Newsday: Prokhorov should meet with Nassau (and, oh, three other partners are gone)

Newsday offers a perfectly reasonable editorial, New Coliseum czar should come to Nassau, suggesting that Mikhail Prokhorov, who now owns 85% of the Nassau Coliseum operating company, "should come to [Nassau County seat] Mineola, meet with [County Executive Ed] Mangano and answer questions at a public hearing held by the legislature."

After all, as former Forest City Ratner executive Jim Stuckey once observed, "projects change, markets change."

Newsday points to a chart in the Nassau Events Center lease that showed Forest City Enterprises as the central company involved, and five other firms involved. Of them, Prokhorov's Onexim is now in charge, and three--Blumenfeld Development Group, Legends, and Guggenheim--are now gone.

While nothing may have changed, and the lease permits such changes, Newsday observe that more transparency is needed.

Hey, didn't someone write an op-ed in Newsday saying Nassau must be wary about plans for Coliseum, adding "Ratner revised the Brooklyn deal several times. Expect more in Nassau."
