Not a surprise: the Nassau Coliseum reopening might be late

From Newsday last night, Nassau Coliseum opening could push back to early 2017, Mangano says:
Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano said Tuesday that the reopening of the Nassau Coliseum could be pushed back from mid-December until early 2017.
In remarks to the Long Island Association, the region’s largest business group, Mangano said the $260.5 million, privately funded project would open in the “first quarter of 2017. Maybe we’ll get lucky and it will be a little bit earlier.”
The arena is supposed to reopen by 12/10/16 for a University of Kentucky vs. Hofstra men’s basketball game, but could be moved to Barclays Center if the Coliseum is not finished.

Mangano gave Ratner an excuse--delays in making a deal with labor unions--while a union spokesman said it wasn't their fault.

Forest City Ratner spokeswoman Ashley Cotton said they expect to reopen the Coliseum “by winter of 2016.” She probably meant 2016-17, because that leaves a lot more wiggle room than the ten days of winter in December 2016.

Hey, didn't some guy write an op-ed in Newsday last May.Nassau must be wary about plans for Coliseum, stating "Based on his track record in Brooklyn, Nassau County should be wary...Ratner revised the Brooklyn deal several times. Expect more in Nassau."
