Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park Quality of Life Community Meeting again rescheduled, to Nov. 1

OK, some three business days after Empire State Development, the state authority overseeing/shepherding Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park, postponed the "Atlantic Yards aka Pacific Park Brooklyn Quality of Life Community Meeting" from Oct. 18 to Nov. 7, it has again rescheduled the meeting to Tuesday, Nov. 1.

The meeting will be at 6 pm at:
Shirley Chisholm State Office Building
55 Hanson Place, 1st Floor Conference Room
Brooklyn NY 11217
No explanation was offered. As I wrote, Nov. 7 is a day before the election, so some people may be distracted. It also might have been difficult to get elected officials--or, rather, their aides--to the meeting. Same for representatives of public agencies.

But it also makes it tougher to attend for community members who set aside time on their schedules. That diminishes transparency and accountability.

Let's see if the seemingly bimonthly schedule is kept, and the next meeting is held Dec. 13 as scheduled. Or perhaps the schedule will drift again.

By the way, I put the title in quotes because this was once a Quality of Life Committee, then a Community Update meeting. The nomenclature changes, but the key is that a state official once called it a "developer meeting."
